Marvel’s highly-anticipated foray into the terrifying Predator universe began this past August in Ed Brisson and Kev Walker’s PREDATOR #1. Her quest for vengeance has only just started and this March, she’ll increase her kill count on a brand-new hunt in PREDATOR #1!

Joined by rising star artist Netho Diaz, Ed Brisson will kick off the explosive next chapter of PREDATOR with a brand-new series that continues Theta’s thrilling journey! Set years after the opening arc, the new series will be perfect for newcomers and a must read for fans of Brisson’s PREDATOR run so far. The epic new saga will introduce a host of new characters trapped fighting for their lives against three distinct Predators. Each Predator uses their vicious skills and alarming expertise in distinct and terrifying ways but they all share the same objective: HUNT. KILL. REPEAT.

On a planet far from Earth, eight strangers find themselves in a deadly game. But this time, the Predators aren’t the only ones on the hunt. Someone has the Yautja in their sites—and they’ve been searching for this game preserve for a long time. Prepare for a brutal, carnage-filled adventure that will turn everything you thought you knew about Predators on its head!

“As a lifelong Predator fan—ever since seeing the first at the drive-in theatre at too-young-of-an-age—writing the comic has been an absolute dream gig,” Brisson said. “I've been thrilled at fan reaction and how I've been able to bring Theta into Predator lore—a bad-ass hunter we haven't seen the likes of since Dutch took down the Jungle Hunter back in 1987.”

“My only problem with our first series was that it was over too soon! I wanted—no...needed—to write more in this universe,” he continued. “Thankfully, we're coming back, with incredible newcomer Netho Diaz on art, to tell a tale that ties into film continuity, while breaking new ground. We've got a new cast, new Predators, and some huge surprises in store! If you've read and enjoyed our first series, you are not going to want to miss out.”

This June, superstar comics talent Rob Liefeld is back with another action-packed saga starring one of his greatest creations in DEADPOOL: BADDER BLOOD!

A sequel to Liefeld’s hit DEADPOOL: BAD BLOOD, DEADPOOL: BADDER BLOOD will be a five-issue limited series that will deliver another definitive Deadpool adventure in iconic Liefeld style! This latest chapter will see the Merc with the Mouth team up with guest stars like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Cable against a dangerous new villain.

Deadpool’s upcoming mission will also raise the stakes of Deadpool’s intense feud with his adversary known as Thumper, revealing surprising details about the deadly killer’s origin along the way. Additionally, fans will be introduced to brand-new Liefeld created characters including the mysterious warrior Shatterstorm, Killville, and Arcata!

“Deadpool really doesn’t have a Rogues Gallery of his own. He mostly tangles with other heroes' villains, so I dedicated the entirety of BAD BLOOD to building up the story of Thumper,” Liefeld told The Hollywood Reporter. “With BADDER BLOOD, Thumper is making moves across the gangs and crime organizations of the Marvel Universe to squeeze Deadpool and deliver him into his clutches. Thumper is also moving to destroy all the scientists behind the Weapon X program and specifically the program that created him. It’s a romp that continues to build out a Rogues Gallery for Deadpool.”

At the dawn of the new millennium, Batman producer Michael Uslan and DC Editor Mike Carlin came up with an idea to bring the architect of DC's biggest competition into their fold. That idea became Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating the DC Universe, a twelve-issue event that began in 2001 and saw Lee take on the most famous characters from the DC pantheon. Each issue focused on a different hero, including Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Lantern, the Flash and ultimately, the Justice League.

Lee's reimagining of DC’s premiere superteam was realized by Superman superstar Jerry Ordway, who is returning to the Just Imagine universe in the new Tales from Earth-6: A Celebration of Stan Lee anthology. In the lead up to the release of the supersized issue, Ordway sat down with DC to reminisce about working with Stan Lee, the joy of writing comics, and how it feels to return to the unique world of Just Imagine after two decades away.

Tales From Earth-6: A Celebration of Stan Lee #1, featuring Jerry Ordway and a team of talented writers and artists, HIT shelves on December 27.

James Gunn is making his first big move at DC and will pen a Superman movie.

The project will focus on the younger years of the hero, and thus he will be played by a new actor rather than Superman veteran Henry Cavill. Gunn and his DC Studios co-chair and co-CEO Peter Safran recently met with Cavill to share the news, and to discuss ideas for potentially collaborating in the future on something else, perhaps a different role.

At this stage, Gunn is merely writing the script, though he could potentially direct depending on where his services are needed at DC Studios, according to insiders.

“Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year,” Gunn wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. “Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill. But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”

Though this Superman will be on the younger side, he won’t be living in Smallville but rather will be Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent, according to insiders.

The news may be a surprise to fans who expected Cavill to return as Superman in the near future. Cavill appeared in a post-credits sequence in Black Adam, released in October, and the Monday after the film opened, posted a message on Instagram announcing he was back as Superman. According to sources, that Instagram message was sanctioned by Warners brass, before Gunn and Safran were hired, thus the change in plans.

Cavill, who announced his departure from the Netflix series The Witcher following his return as Superman, reflected on the change in an Instagram post, writing, “I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to [Gunn and Safran’s] hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”

Since assuming their new roles Nov. 1, Gunn and Safran have been taking meetings with other key players in the DC universe. In addition to Cavill, they recently met with Batman actor Ben Affleck to discuss the possibility of him directing for them in the future, according to sources familiar with the conversation. No deal is in place for Affleck to helm a DC feature at this stage. They also had conversations with filmmaker Patty Jenkins, who no longer will be moving forward with a third Wonder Woman film.

Warners has also been developing a Black superman film written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and produced by J.J. Abrams, and Gunn’s new movie is said to not have an impact on that project, with Coates still working on the script.

James Gunn has been responding on Twitter to various fans and has shared a few teases about what DC Studios are doing with the DCU. One fan recently asked Gunn if he is "producing any Elseworlds DC projects that aren't set in the DCU?" under his DC Studios era. It didn't take long for Gunn to reply back with a positive answer. “That is actively happening.”

EXCLUSIVE FROM HOLLYWOODREPORTER.COM

Donald Glover is finally getting a Spider-Man movie. It’s just not quite what you think.

Glover is attached to star in and produce a feature set in Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man universe of Marvel Comics characters, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

Myles Murphy, the son of actor and comedian Eddie Murphy, is on board to write the project, which has no title but is said to revolve around the Hypno-Hustler, one of the more obscure Spider-Man villains.

Created by Bill Mantlo, the writer who also created Rocket Racoon, and artist Frank Springer, Hypno-Hustler was very much a product of the disco music scene when he first appeared in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man No. 24 in 1978. His real name was Antoine Delsoin, the leader of a band called the Mercy Killers and he used hypnosis technology in his instruments on his audience in order to rob them.

Glover’s name has circled Spider-Man for years, with fans clamoring for him to portray Spidey, particularly in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man. That didn’t happen — Andrew Garfield landed the role as Peter Parker — but Glover did voice Spider-Man/Miles Morales in the Disney XD series Ultimate Spider-Man in 2015. He also appeared in a very brief role in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. (A deleted scene from the movie pointed to him playing Miles Morales’ uncle.)

This coming March, Image Comics will release Phantom Road, a new creator-owned series by writer Jeff Lemire and artist Gabriel Walta. Described by the publisher as "Mad Max: Fury Road meets The Sandman," Phantom Road will reunite Lemire and Walta, who previously collaborated on Sentient, promising to take readers on a midnight run unlike any other.

Phantom Road kicks off when long-haul truck driver Dom stops to help a young woman named Birdie who has just been in a bad car wreck. Birdie swerved to avoid hitting a mysterious object - one that will launch Dom and Birdie into a nightmarish road trip. The preview pages, shared below, chronicle Dom’s first meeting with Birdie, beginning a story which the creators intend to rank among the most ambitious comic epics.

This is the second collaboration between Jeff Lemire and Gabriel Walta after 2019’s Sentient, which was nominated for an Eisner Award. Both Lemire and Walta have had distinguished careers. Lemire broke into the mainstream comics' industry in the 2000s and in the following decade, established himself as one of the field’s top creators, working on everything from superhero books to creator-owned titles at a variety of publishers, with books including Sweet Tooth, Descender, and Gideon Falls. He recently signed an exclusive contract with Image Comics.
